The Financial Services Unit is responsible for arranging all general insurances for UTS and its affiliates. No other person should attempt to arrange insurances for UTS and its affiliates.

Reference to “UTS” in the following pages means “UTS and affiliates” unless specified to the contrary.

Workers’ compensation insurances are arranged through the Human Resources Unit or directly by an affiliate. 

When to Contact UTS Insurance

Insurers must be informed of material variations to the “business” including:

• purchase of other property;
• acquisitions of other “businesses” (including comparable businesses);
• expansion of business activities;
• commercialised intellectual property;
• cessation of an activity or occupation of a property;
• participation in “new” joint ventures; 
• manufacture of “new” products (with “manufacture” being given its broadest possible interpretation, including quantities sufficient for research and development purposes);
•  operations in other countries; 
• exports of products to other countries (particularly USA and Canada); 
• chartering of aircraft or watercraft; 
• hold harmless or indemnity clauses in contracts (ie clauses which impose liabilities on UTS);
• agency agreements.

The list above is indicative rather than comprehensive. If in doubt, please discuss the matter with UTS Insurance.

UTS does not insure the “business” of other parties, nor does it insure liabilities assumed under contract, unless those liabilities would have attached to UTS in the ordinary course of events. 

DISCLOSURES TO INSURERS

UTS is obliged either by statute or by conditions in the various policies, to disclose all material facts which may be relevant to the insurer’s decision to insure UTS or which may change the application of an insurance policy. Non-disclosure may result in the insurer disclaiming liability or cancelling the policy concerned. It is essential that changes to the UTS “business” (as previously described) are advised to insurers.

 INSURANCE INTERMEDIARY

UTS has appointed Aon Risk Services Australia Ltd as our insurance broker to provide insurance advisory services. Aon also arranges our insurances with a number of prominent commercial insurers.
